Design

Once a problem is defined, a solution should be designed.

One of the first things I needed to actual design was a big manifesto, it needed to show my interpretation of this study course. Together with my classmate, I was responsible for the designing and drawing phase of the poster. It was the first group challenge, and I really liked it. I like to be creative so this assignment fitted me perfectly. The only difficult thing was that we needed to make a design together, and I’m used to design alone. We both made some sacrifices on our ideas, and we came to a really good design in my opinion.

Fundamentals of business.

Another problem we needed to design a solution for was for the lecture Fundamentals of Business. During "Fundamentals of Business" we needed to determine every facet of a company, and place it in the right box of the business model canvas. The aim was to learn how to make a company's blueprint. Of course some company’s are easier to understand than others. For example, I kept changing my mind about the company Frog design since I kept replacing the sticky notes on the BMC. since But there just comes a point you need to stop, and stick with your decisions.

You have a good overview of the company after you made a business model canvas. That makes the next step easier,"determining the flaws of a company". Looking for the points where it can improve. And especially which part of the company can use some improvement.

International World of Business.

Collecting information and leading it in the right directions is something I also learned in the lecture International World Of Business. We had to choose an economical event from the past, and create a timeline for it. So I began to collect data about that subject.Something that really helped me a lot with that were the lessons of "information skills". What you exactly need to type in to google to find the right information. Also the other information sources she gave us were very usefull. It was hard for me to stop with collecting information, because there is alway’s more. There is always a change you find even better information you already had. But I forced myself to stop with collecting, and start working on the actual timeline after Willem interfered. He said that it was time to start putting it all together, because you can go on endlessly otherwise.

The hard part was the designing of the poster. I like drawing so that wasn’t a problem, but taking out the most important points in my event was. You can compare it a little bit with making a BMC. I have the overview and all the information, but now I need to place it in the right order.

So I spend a lot of time on designing and sketching my poster presentation. I kept changing my ideas about it, and I really doubted about what I should include and what not. Eventually, I managed to pick the most important aspects and describe them in short words on my poster. Something what also helped here was the critical thinking we learned during the "Thinking and reasoning" lecture. It helped me because you really had to determine what information was useful and reliable.
