IBIS meta-skills

The IBIS meta-skills are different skills you use during innovation. If there is a problem how are you going to define the issue? Everybody needs to know the ins and outs of the problem, what are your thoughts around the problem but mostly important do you have solutions? Now that you have defined the issue you have to make sure about how are you going to attack the issue? There needs to be a design. When you feel confident that the design is ready then it’s time to turn what is on the paper into work.

Define

Defining an issue is not easy when you read the meta-skills. During Fundamentals of Business we have to involve a lot of defining an issue. We would get a text where a company had problems with fewer turnovers then the previous year. Not a long time ago I went to get a pizza with one of my fellow students. We talked to the guy about his business and also why he is in this business, when he started, how he started etc.. As we talked we came to a conclusion that he wants to expand his business but in not sure about the opportunities me and my fellow students came up with the idea that the students from school maybe we can help to full fill his dream. In return we got a real experience, a new assignment, an opportunity and extra study credits if we pass the assignment.I also used this skill during all of the lectures we get from serval subject I tend to ask al lot of questions. I ask a lot of question so that I can come to a solid conclusion where my problem is and also if I’m on the right path that I’m walking.

Designing

I tend not to work a lot with this skill. I still found it hard to structure my ideas and the design of it. Especially when we need to work in groups and collaborate ideas with each other. You also have to know how to plan and be able to meet your deadlines on time.

Leading

A lot of the time I hear that people find me vey inspiring and motivating. This is because of the entire thing isike to do such as coaching and helping people. This year in May I coach children from primary school. We prepared them for the Cito exam. We did not just gave them assignment but also learning to tools that they can use in life. For example the difference between a fixed mind-set and a growth mind set. Why it’s important for them to have a growth mind-set? If you have a growth minds set you always have in mind that you ca learn from your mistake and don’t be disappointed when you did have all marks correct because you’re not perfect you are in a learning process an you can do whatever you want to do as long if you for it and be passionate about it.
