The culture

England has known a three-class system for a very long time. There was the "Upper class", the "Middle class" and the "Working class". If you had a higher and better class, you had more prestige and respect. Nowadays people no longer speak about these classes however the difference can still be felt, however small. There is one thing that every class has in common and that's the interest and importance of tradition.

If you ask anyone about British culture, most likely he (or she) will answer with The Beatles. This British pop-band is one of most famous bands of all times and really placed musical Britain on the charts, however few English bands made it to international and global succes. Another answer you will most likely hear is Shakespeare who is considered one of the writers to have lived. Many of the plays he wrote are still read and played untill the day of today. A famous Irish writer is Oscar Wilde. He was born in Dublin however he lived most of his life in Great-Britain. His most famous work is "The Importance Of Being Earnest".
