Thinking and Reasoning

The first lesson of Thinking and Reasoning. I liked the atmosphere in the class, they were all active. first, the teacher showed us a picture of the world upside down. We started discussing of how we each thought about the pictures, like the world looks a little different than in its normal state. This was a challenge for our perspective as the continents weren’t familiar. I think this exercise was for us to test our ways of knowledge, according to the model that the teacher provided us with, we usually build our knowledge in four ways: Emotions, Reason, Language and Perception. I do think that there categories are controlling our way of thinking and doing, but I don’t think that this figures out all of our mental processes. What do you know and how do you know it? That was the main question in the lecture, i.e. how do you know that pointing at somebody is wrong? That is because we were told that it was wrong. We were looking into it and that is what i find interesting.

Senses

Todays lesson was about the 5 senses; Smelling, Feeling, Seeing, Hearing and Tasting. Luckily I can use all of my 5 senses and i am currently training my sixth sense, but that is a secret for yo guys. During the classes we had it about the 5 senses and i was thinking about how I would be if I missed one of my senses. I cannot imagine to be blind or deaf, it is a real scary thought. Or the ability without tasting, how could I differentiate between food like; fruit, vegetables or meat. I wouldn’t be happy without my senses. What this lesson taught me was that I need to be happy with my abililty to hear, taste, see, smell and feel. During the class we had to make a couple of groups and each group had each sense we had to talk about and my group had the sense feeling. We started with our presentation and presented it to everyone in the class.

Intuiting

In this lesson we learned about System 1 and System 2. During our class we went through the concepts of System 1, System 1 is the part of our brain that is fast, instinctive and emotional, it is like going for your gut. Usually you are not aware of the things that you do if it is instinctive. It happens fast. System 2 uses more mental activities and makes you think before you do something. It is usually paired with choice and concentration. I do think that I use a little bit both of them, because sometimes I do things that i didn’t think of but at the same time i concentrate and think about it before actually doing it. It is a hard thing to explain but it just is. Later during class we had a discussion about a article that we had read at home, with the whole class in a Socratic Seminar. This was a nice way to discuss, because we were able to listen to other opinions at a close range.

Emoting

In this lesson we had to answer some questions with a group to see in were able to answer them in a good way. When we all were done, we got suprised because we got the majority wrong while we thought the answers seemed logic. The quiz had different skills that we needed, including mathematics and language. But the most important thing was something that nobody came up with and that was the emotional one. There are different kinds of intelligence but the one we were going through was emotional intelligence. We learned that the emotional intelligence had 5 different elements, that was; Self-regulation, Social skills, Self-awareness, empathy and motivation. The most important element I think is the element Motivation, because without motivation I really don’t think I can do something usefull with the rest of the elements.

Critical Thinking

In this lesson we talked about credibility, the things we should believe or not. At the beginning of the class, the teacher asked us a expected question and that was if we believed the news or not? there were different kind of answers. Later on we had to do a assignment and the teacher told us to do a research on one of the questions and I chose for; “Can or cannot stunt bone growth”. Before I went looking for it on the internet I already had thought about it and cam up with the answer no (system 1) because I really didn’t think that smoking effects the bone growth because I smoke and I am 1.85 meters and I am 20 years old. After that, I searched for it on the internet with the skills I learned from Information Skills and I came with the information unfortunately that smoking DOES stunt your bone growth. Cigarette smoke is very damaging for the person, it goes through the body’s immune system and damages the cells and organes that keep the bones healthy.

Rhetoric

In this lesson we talked about rhetoric, the art of using language effictively and persuasively. There are 4 types of rhetoric: Innuendo, Loaded Questions, Trend Analyst and Euphemism. The reason that I think that rhetoric is important, because that is a way to learn to achive things that we really want. For example is that I like a motorcycle and I ask my dad to buy it for me and in return I will do my extra best in school. But we all know that didn’t happen.

Fallacies

In this lesson we talked about fallacies, a deceptive, misleading, or false notion, belief. For example replying to a question without proof just to strengthen your argument. There many types of fallacies, too many to name up. But they all are in common.

What is in my backpack

During the classes of "Whats in my backpack" the teacher let us think about ourself and behaviour of ours. I was motivated to do my best at certain things concerning my future. We had think about our ultimate business dream and how it would look like.

After all that we had to make a Master Plan. The idea was to find ways to work towards them. Therefore I used the Meta-skillDefine skill to come up with what I really want.

I used the Meta-Skill Design to make my first sketch of my Master Plan. I had to imagine my future in front of me and try to plan my steps and activities for what I need. It was a difficult task, because I can't really imagine myself in the future and it kind of scares me.

Information Skills

At the lessons of Information Skills we learned how to find information from reliable sources. We learned how to use google as good as possible. It was a handy thing to learn, because I never knew that we could find information in a certain where I could get more specific information. I used it allot during other assessment either.

I used the Meta Skill Learn for collecting the right information.

HTML/CSS

During the classes of HTML I had a really difficult time with creating a website, because it was al relitavely new to me. I got really confused with the lesson and the way the teacher explained everything. Everything I learned was from my co-students and Youtube.

But later on I did understand the HTML and know you can see that I made a website on my own. My flaw of the lesson was that I didn't could follow the teacher's lecture, because she didn't tell it clear to me. For this I used the Meta Skill Learn skill, I worked on my HTML everyday to just get the hang of it.
