Without road(earth,gravity) they would not be able to accelerate and function as cars... It was only an example of relative versus absolute. Analogies do not hold when you push them to the extreme. But in fact, the Cosmic Background radiation is already providing us with an absolute reference, but I consider that as cheating. The Galilean transformations were also based on "sitting below deck in a ship and not being able to look outside". Rotations cannot be hidden from a person below deck. Did you receive mu e-mail ?
