Projects
Having many interest leads to many projects were I have worked on. I would like to give more information about a couple of these projects. Down below you find some pictures to illustrate the projects that i wil mention.
When I was 18 years old I went to Ghana to visit family over their who emigrated to Ghana and build a beach resort nearby Cape Coast. Getting familiar with the country and the Ghanaian culture I learned about some materials the people used for daily life on of those were giant bins which the woman carried on their heads with fish, clothes or other daily products in it to sell on the market. All those bins were decorated and the idea came to me to buy some of those bins, the decorate and sell them back in the Netherlands. It worked and I sold a couple, the only problem to keep the business going was the transportation from Ghana to the Netherlands.
A year later when I started Business administration at the VU University I joined the Amsterdam Centre for Entrepreneurship as an ambassador with the task to get more students familiar with entrepreneurship. We organized several events around Amsterdam like the Amsterdam Studenten Ondernemers Prijs were I got In touch with many other innovative students and start ups.
Being in this enviroment I wanted to start a new business on my own. The idea I had was great but to big for a starter. For more then half a year I worked on an idea to build a online platform for tutoring in the style of Airbnb and Uber. I talked with many different kind of businesses leaders from all kind of companies and I was actively working on this idea. As mentioned before it was to big for one person on its own and as so often in business someone with more experience, a bigger team and budget went ahead of me.
A disappointment is common in the business world but the most important thing is to keep going. I still have many ideas and I'm sure being in the innovative environment of the International Business and Innovation course new projects will come up. Honestly I'm already working on a new idea with a friend of mine. It is still in its infancy but I can tell that it has something to do with filming, editing and selling !
