My history before International Business of Innovations studies:
I'm Amerigo Borghi and I was born and raised in Italy, despite that I have dual citizenship; I am half Italian and half Dutch.
I have lived in Verona for most of my life even thou When I was a child I travelled a lot with my family. At the age of fourteen I started travelling alone in order to extend my views. I love travelling and I have been to England, Scotland, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Corsica, Austria, Greece, Spain, Fuerte Ventura, Ibiza, Sardegna and many other places and cities in Italy. I have a good knowledge of two foreign languages: English and Spanish. I have studied these languages at school and also practiced them during my travel experiences. I speak Spanish quite well as I have been to Barcelona were I enjoyed what this city had to offer me and I liked to mingle with locals.
In 2014 I have really improved my social and communicative skills in the Student Hotel in The Hague where I spent one month working with people from all over the world. I very much enjoyed that situation and I really want to study and work in an international atmosphere and for this reason International Business of Innovation should put me on a good track for my future.
I graduated high school with a score of 98 out of 100. My high school faculty was Human Sciences at Calabrese-Levi school in Verona and the subjects I preferred were: economy (macro-economy as well as micro-economy) psychology, anthropology and sociology. Our school program was luckily focused on globalization and current relationships and I am really interested in world affairs and how they will and could develop. For this reason I did a short but intense Arabic language course where I learned how to write and how to read the Arabic alphabet. I want to improve this knowledge also because of the new opening and booming markets in the Middle East. This language skill could be useful for a future project linked to partnership with that part of the world.
I strongly believe that International Business of Innovation has the right program to suit my personal interests because it’s really focused on modern life’s economic issues and offers a good way to understand and, hopefully, to solve them. I’ve chosen the faculty of International Business of Innovation at Inholland University because the program challenges me and has got a lot of multifunctional subjects that really interest me such as marketing, design, and creative thinking.
I really like the part of Internationalisation of the IBIS program because nowadays it’s of crucial importance to learn and to know more about global relationships and trades among countries and companies, also considering different habits of foreign cultures. I think, for instance, that the part of internationalisation blended with a good preparation in business and in innovation structure can provide me a different point of view and could teach me how to observe a problem or a situation from many new points of view;
Last but not least I feel curious about the method that IBIS have and its metaskills (Define-Design-Execute-Learn-Lead) because I think it’s a good pattern that follow the right psychological state of mind to reach and exceed tasks and goals. Furthermore I have always been fascinated by trading, especially the global aspect of trade, and the way in which trade might develop through innovations; not only for economic insights but also to improve my knowledge of other cultures and skills that could be a resource for our future.
I believe that innovations and design in the business sector may really change the quality of life, for example, for the environment and, of course, consequently for our health. A good option would be to start a real shift from the pollutants fossil fuel machines to new sources of renewable and clean energy.
So I feel that the IBIS faculty in Diemen is the right place to meet my ambitions also for the multicultural atmosphere and setting that Holland and that, in particular Amsterdam has got. Moreover, I feel at home in Amsterdam because my uncle lives there and thus it’s a good opportunity to spend more time with my cousins and my Dutch branch of the family.
I am also a sportsman and I love to play football I think that I can relate this passion to other fields like for instance I’m used to work in a team and I know how to deal with group strategies and cooperation. I suppose that I am a team worker and I like to take the lead. Eventually, I would like to create, also with others students, a blend of knowledge, purposes and targets that could give birth to something new, original, creative and functional for our society.
I’ve observed two possible business issues before join the IBIS group: This year when I visited Amsterdam I saw Julia. It’s the name of the take away pasta place which you have at the train stations of the big cities in The Netherlands. I was amazed that we don’t have these takeaway pasta places in Italy. I would like to find out if a franchising would work in Italy. Secondly I had another idea when I visited the Expo at Milan. The 2015 theme ‘Feeding the planet, Energy for Life’ is of “paramount importance to the development of humanity”. I’ve seen and read that the Italians had a lot of problems with their pavilion at the Expo. Related with what I mentioned above I think that IBIS studies could help me to find the way to solve these kind of problems.
Actually I’m working on a project called “Diversity Gallery” with the aim to discover how to disrupt the Innovation cycle and accelerate it and find out more about the process of “Serendipity Innovations”.
