During this I have witnessed a lot points where I have progressed in. By writing this reflection I hope to see what I have learned during the first term and where I can improve on.
Let me first start with the subjects fundamentals of business and international world of business. Coming from a background of International studies as well, both subjects were very interesting to me. When I heard that I was going to learn about business I thought that I would probably know already everything that was taught during the classes. This however, was not the case. I for instance never made a business model like a canvas. In previous studies I have made a lot of business analysis but not one like this. Without still knowing the result of my analysis I think I did well since it was my first time.
Looking back at my international world of business project I can fairly say that I have learned a lot. To make a timeline is one thing, but to actually identify the effects and future projections of the event, it has taught me to widen my approach of tackling problems. I actually really liked this project because it was not only about knowing the information and to present it, making the poster and being creative with it was a whole new way for presenting to me.
Looking back at the progress of making my English portfolio, I can honestly say that I have improved a lot since I first started the study. I thought at the beginning of this education that my English could not really improve that much, but it amazes me to already see improvement after only the first term.
In the first term I have learned the most from all the professional skill development classes. It has made me think a lot about myself and how I can develop myself on a professional level. What is in my backpack has really made me think about how I want to promote myself in the future towards others by identifying a lot what I can do best and where I still need to work a lot on.
The course Information skills has really helped me to find information very fast and effective. I am very happy that I had the opportunity to learn to improve this skill, because in the future I know that I am going to do a lot of research and by having learned this course I can now do it better than when I started this course.
The course HTML/CSS has taught me a lot. When I first started this education I have to say I honestly did not know how to build a website. I can fairly say that I know the basics of building a website and hope to work more on it in the future since I think it is a very useful skill to possess.
To sum up my opinion on my view of the subject, I would say that I already knew a lot about the topics that were discussed and I sort of forgotten about a lot of them and learned actually a lot of using them in everyday life.
For the second term we had to pick subjects that fall under the negotiated learning units. We had to require an amount of 84 hours in total. I unfortunately had only 80 hours in total. My NLU’s are stated below.
Animation fundamentals
What I understood from the subject animation fundamentals is that we are going to design and create a digital animated feature. I have actually in high school done a presentation on the evaluation of the movie industry and it was very interesting for me to find out that not so long ago all animated movies are replaced by digitally animated movies as a sign of innovation. It is very interesting for me to see how this is done. I am looking forward for this NLU and expect that I will learn how to digitally animate.
Russia:an eagle looking in two directions
I find this NLU very interesting. I expect to learn a lot of Russian culture by taking this NLU. When it comes to other cultures, I am actually very narrow minded and am therefore very eager to learn about their culture because I do not know a lot about it.
Movietime:stories for businesses
I have always been very interested in the whole movie industry. During the market fair, I asked a second year who had taken this course last year, what the course was all about. She mentioned that it was a lot about reflecting on the movies you are going to see. Since I have already done a lot of reflecting during this period I am actually curious to see if I can do it more effectively during this course.
Visual Harvesting: The power of visual stories
From this class I expect to learn a new way of communication. Nowadays all communication is done verbally and the use of visual communication is not so relevant anymore. I for instance do not use it that often. Therefore I want to learn how to do this and to actually use this effectively in the future.
