Looking back at the progress of making my English portfolio, I can honestly say that I have improved a lot since I first started the study. I thought at the beginning of this education that my English could not really improve that much, but it amazes me to already see improvement after only the first term.
I learned the most from all the writing assignments. I think that by putting my thoughts to paper I now can easily explain the things I want to say. When I first started this course, in my head I first had to translate everything from Dutch to English. Now however, I am almost thinking in English and don’t have to do that very often anymore.
When I look at my proposal, which I have written in my portfolio, I came to the conclusion that my set objective is achieved. Looking back on which objectives I have set and the expectation of the progress, it has sincerely exceeded my expectations. As mentioned I was not really sure whether my English could improve on all the subjects given, but I have improved on all the subjects. Especially my vocabulary has improved during the process. I now know a lot of words and phrases where I never heard of or never used, and am now able to use them in a logical way.
The result of the test, which I have made in class, has really shown me my progress. I discovered that I have progressed a lot, since I had only two mistakes on the test. I clearly know what I did wrong and will try to improve that in the future.
At last I really liked the making of a portfolio. I haven’t written a report for a long time, especially in English, and therefore it was really a challenge for me to do this fully in English.
