META-SKILLS

At first sight it seems like a very difficult term, but it’s all about helping you in your learning development. I will explain every META-SKILL and the effect it had on me the first term.

LEAD

This meta-skill had a major influence on my IWOB presentation. Because I wasn’t presented a sort of form in which I should’ve made the presentation. I had to improvise and take the LEAD myself. This was very exciting and defiant for me. I developed my creative mind-set and confidence. Unfortunately I didn’t saw the appreciation in my grade.

LEARN

This program is all about active learning and doing that what’s necessary for your own career. It’s important to get the most out of all the speakers who are visiting IBIS to share there knowledge. Because what you learned from the speakers you can implement in your assignments. For me this helped me a lot with Fundamentals of Business.

EXECUTE

When you see all the activeness and participation around you at IBIS it really makes you want to start working on your assignments. It’s not only learning and seeing but you are being pushed to immediately execute and present. Which Is good because then you don’t have the time to sit back and leave things on the side. Mainly with the PSD lessons the focus was on EXECUTE because every week we had some kind of presentation or assignment we had to execute.

DEFINE

For me many things in this program are very vague and unclear. Defining problems and situations are very important and the PSD lessons helped me a lot with developing this. Also defining your assignment for example IWOB is important because if it’s not clear to yourself how would it possibly be clear for others.

DESIGN

I think we still have to get deeper in the design part and I already see in term 2 that that will be the case. As for this term they really tested my DESIGN skill with the poster presentation.

I will end this by saying the META SKILLS where more likely a guideline for me on how to tackle and manage all the assignments and work we’re doing. The IBIS way of studying is very different and you will feel like a small fish in the ocean if you don’t know how to get structure in this program. The META SKILLS helped me a lot in this matter.
