IVA
The IVA most commonly known as the "car sales" study or the "expensive one". Both statements are true. The study is focused on car sales and it is a private education but it is way more than that. At the beginning of the IVA when it only had 100 students it was primarily focused on car sales. Later when the school started to expand the demand for business management grew, therefor the business school. Now they focus also on creating your own business. 80% of the IVA students ends up creating their own business.
I started at the IVA at the B program, this is a MBO+ study. It is a 4 year study that is given in two years. Each year i had 18 courses like; management, marketing, car/ engine/ electra technique, presentation skills, consumer and industrial sales, accountancy, law and many more. Because I did the fast course it felt like exam week almost every week. I had school from 9 in the morning till 4 in the day, everyday! This demands a certain discipline and dealing with stress. For me and my roommate is was common business to study till late in the night and wake up early to continue. The end assignment was to make a complete business plan. The business plan was written for an BMW-Mini dealership near Rotterdam. This taught me much about business in general and how to implement it in a working business plan. I didn't only grow in intelligence but also in person. It really learned me to work hard, have respect for each other and to think on a business level. The IVA made me the person you know now.
After graduation I continued the programme, my marks were higher than the 7,3 requirement, just like my attitude. This programme was more focused on business in an already existing company. Now i had subjects like: financial management, quality management and many more. At the end i had several sixes and sevens on my list but only one 5 for quality management (which wasn't allowed). I had to quit... This came as complete surprise from me. Because I put my focus on study i didn't want to work beside it, so i didn't had any money at the end. This forces me to work full-time, I did it at my internship company the bacon factory. But after connecting the dots i figured out it was all for the good because now i'm a student at the IBIS programme.
The IVA is 5 years in a row in the top 3 of best dutch small HBO educations. Often first place, sometimes 2nd or 3th place.
