Simple 5V supply with 1A warning LED

This is a very simple power supply based on a famous component called the 7805. It uses a two-colour LED to display the current usage. Normally, the LED is green. But once you use about 1A the LED turnes orange. Higher currents (so short circuits also) will make the LED turn red.

Notes

R2 should be a high-power resistor because it is used for measuring the current upto 1.5A.

If you want to turn the red LED on on a lower current Iwarning, here is how to calculate the new value of R2:

  - R2 = 0.7/Iwarning
