The Amstel Hotel is Amsterdams most prestigious hotel.
It was build in 1863-1867 as part of an ambitious cityplan by the jewish doctor Samuel Sarphati
which was never completed.
The long side of the hotel faces the river Amstel that gave Amsterdam its name.
