Before you can send or receive Mail, you must sign up for an Mail account. This page will show you how to sign up for a free Yahoo! mail account and then use it to send and receive a message.
Double-click the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop. If IE is not on the desktop, you may click the “Start” button on the taskbar, point to “Programs” then look for and click Internet Explorer.
Type: “www.yahoo.com” (without quotes) in the address bar and press the “Enter” key on the keyboard.
Click the Sign-up mail icon (link) next to the “Yahoo!” type (Figure 1).

Fill in each text box as required by Yahoo. When you have finished typing the text boxes in click the submit button at the bottom of the form.
Yahoo checks to see if the each text box is:
Filled in. If you miss a text box, you will get a box prompting you to fill the text box in.
Valid. If you enter invalid information, a prompt box will notify you to correct it.
An available yahoo mail user name/password. If the Yahoo username/password you chose is already taken or is invalid, Yahoo will ask you to chose another mail ID or pick one of their suggestions.
If you get any web pages asking you to correct any data, make the requested changes. You will not be able to proceed until the data entered satisfies Yahoo’s requirements for an mail account.
Once you have successfully completed the form, Yahoo will take you to a Welcome page (Figure 3).

This page contains your Yahoo! ID and new E-mail address. Be sure to write them down along with your password for future reference.
Make certain that the checkbox for “Install Yahoo!” Companion toolbar is unchecked. If it is not, click the checkbox to uncheck it.
Click the “Continue” button. This button takes you to the Yahoo! Mail page where your new E-mail box (called the Inbox) is located (Figure 4).

When you have completed the sign-up process for a Yahoo account, you will have your first opportunity to check your mailbox.
Sender: Who sent you the message.
Subject: The subject of the message (usually a short title for the message).
Date: The date the message was sent.
Size: The size of the message.
SIGNING OUT OF YAHOO MAIL:
It is always a good idea to sign out of your Yahoo account. This protects your personal information and prevents unauthorized usage of your account.
Click the “Sign Out” link located next to your E-mail address at the top far right of the screen or below your username at the top mid-left of the screen.
Close the web browser. Click “File” on the menu bar then “Close”.
